The timber is a fantastic material for construction, be it aesthetically or functionally. It is an abundant material in Nepal, and in many old buildings in Nepal, timbers were used. However, the current policy of Nepal, not to cut trees (in a way that is necessary), has been a big setback for architects, builders and homeowners.

Bamboo is also gaining attention over the years. In the modern form, they are now being used in making special structures in addition to low-cost houses that were originally used by many in the flat plains and Terai of Nepal. Significant work is to be done to make this material a rich man’s choice.
